Strong Performances by Maltese youth bowlers at the European Youth Championships in Berlin
The Maltese youths delivered yet another strong show at the highlight competitive European Youth Championships
for ten pin bowling, with 2 Bronze medals from Nicolai Mallia (Singles and All – Events), and 8th place in the Masters
by Kayden Lagana’. The teams also came agonisingly close to a medal: 5th place in the 4 man team (Mallia, Lagana’,
Tomas and Samuel Caruso, one step away from the medal zone at just 17 pins away at totals of 5086-5107), and a
joint 5th place (just 6 pins away from medal zone) in the doubles by Mallia and Lagana’. Mallia also shot a perfect
300 game in the team’s event. 25 country teams took part in the 4 man team, with a total of 112 boys in the singles.
The sole Maltese girl, Celianne Micallef, also performed well after a shaky first day to finish a respectable 34th place
out of 57 in the girls All events.
Mark Spiteri, National Coach, accompanied the players throughout the event.

bogħod miż-żona tal-midalji) fid-doubles minn Mallia u Lagana’. Mallia kellu wkoll logħba perfetta ta’ 300 flavveniment
tat-timijiet. 25 tim nazzjonali ħadu sehem fit-tim ta’ 4 irġiel, b’total ta’ 112-il tifel fis-singles. Celianne
Micallef ippartecipat fil kategorija tall-bniet u spiccat l-34 min 57 tfajliet b-average tajjeb hafna.
