Kayden Lagana wins bronze in EYC 2025 Masters

The Malta Bowling Federation won a third medal at the European Youth Championships in Turkey.

On Sunday, Kayden Lagana won a bronze medal in the Masters event to add to the third placings of Nicolai Mallia in the singles and the Maltese selection in the Team Event.

Following the results in the Singles, Doubles and Team Events, Nicolai Mallia and Kayden Lagana’ made it to the top 16 overall and so they qualified for the Masters, with Micallef in seventh place and Kayden in 16th.

Step 1 saw Mallia easily beating Raphael Durivault from France 207-177 and 232-192, while Lagana faced the leader Tobias Kastfelt Bryde from Denmark.

Lagana lost the first game 224-237, but then got back on level terms with game 2, 221-213 and then ran away with a great 256 -181 last game to join Mallia in Step 2.

Mallia faced David Giantomassi from Italy and started with a huge 289 against the Italian’s 217.

However, Mallia was a bit unlucky in the next 2 games and lost 182-207, and 172-206 to end his very successful EYC participation in Turkey.

The Maltese contingent’s focus switched to Kayden Lagana’ who faced home favourite Tuna Boncu.

Both games were close, and both went Lagana’s way 214-202, 211-209, ensuring the Maltese bowler would now get a medal.

Semi finals saw Lagana face Timeo Dujardin from France, whose 247 and 235 were enough to overcome Lagana’s 186 and 208.

This meant Lagana ended up in third place with a bronze medal, while Dujardin faced Giantomassi in the finals and ended up as Masters winner with a convincing  211-182, 276-214 win.

Team Malta was lead by National Coach Mark Spiteri. Another successful event for Malta Bowling Association in the European scene.
